Hello :)

Hi :) I'm Robert, a Freelance Unity Developer based in Angoulême, France. I'm currently the programmer/3d artist/sound designer on a game called Gloopalaxy, a tiny aquarium management/collection game where you have to capture creatures from the whole galaxy!

I started my career as a game dev in Montreal (2015), where I studied game design and then went on to work as a programmer in various companies. I came back to France in summer 2022, to start my own studio along with @micocool.

In parallel of my game dev journey, I am also working as a freelancer with missions ranging from web development to more advanced Unity 3D applications and software architecture design. I'm currently booked until march 2025, but feel free to send me an email :)

Tools!

My collection of game dev tools! Some of these are very useful (looking at you scene browser), and others I never really use. There's no link for most of them as I'm trying to find time to turn them into proper unity packages, but it's in my 2025 roadmap.

Dialogue Graph

This one is a bit old, and I don't really use it but it was made as part of an experiment. I wanted to see how usable the unity graph view API was, and it got out of hand quite fast...

In any case it works quite nicely. Is it production ready? Absolutely not!

Interaction Framework

In 2024, I realized that I was ALWAYS making the same interaction system in all of our prototypes/game jams. So I decided to make something that was, reusable and very easy to extend, very quick to setup, and (most importantly) nice to look at.

Scene Selector

I can't say how much time this one is saving me in multi-scene projects. Having to search the project tab for the scene I want to go to is very slow. This tool allows me to quickly load a scene, ping it and open its location in the file explorer.

Selection History

I find myself doing a lot of back and forth in unity, when I'm editing multiple assets at the same time. I built this tool so I could pin assets I'm using frequently, locate them in the project and open their properties in a single window.

Yarn Extension

This is quite a big one, and is supposed to help making narrative games much more efficiently. It's built on top of Yarn Spinner, and provides a way to use variables defined in yarn scripts as ScriptableObjects and vice versa. It features a condition editor GUI so that anyone can easily apply changes to scenes, based on player's choices.

Language Designer

While I don't think this one provides much value as a game dev tool, it was a very rewarding learning experiment. I wanted to make a scripting language from scratch. I did succeed, but in the end there are much more viable alternatives on github. The interesting part of this project though is that it provides a way to define your own scripting language syntax.

A few more things are coming this year, such as a "very simple save sytem", and (maybe) reusable automated build scripts.

???

What's next

Later this year I'm planning to add a blog to this page, so make sure to come back if you're interested! I'm still trying to figure out what kind of content I want to post, it may or may not be related to programming or even game dev at all.

ART!!!

I've produced a lot of 3D art in the last 5 years, and I'm getting to a point where I feel like maybe I should start showcasing it? I'll probably add a gallery here soon.

Web Dev Projects

Hire me!

What I can do:

  • unity C# dev. I love gameplay/ui/tool programming and software architecture design.
  • web dev (I only do static web pages)
  • IT stuff, I will happily setup automated builds for you :)
  • I am still thinking about it, but: do you want me to teach you game programming?

I will have some availability starting april 2025 (I will update this page as often as I can). You can contact me using my email: robert.edilber@mailbox.org or on any social media platform I'm on (I check my emails A LOT so you'll have a better chance there).
